FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about the games, schools, trips to Loch Ness, bookings and the shop. Can't find yours? Ask us.

Playing the games

Are the games free?

Yes. All eight 3D adventures are free to play, with no adverts, no in-app purchases and no sign-up.

What age are the games for?

They're made for children aged about 5 to 10. Younger children enjoy them with a grown-up.

Which devices work?

A recent computer, tablet, phone or interactive whiteboard with an up-to-date web browser. You need an internet connection to load each adventure.

Where is progress saved?

Stars, outfits and postcards are saved in your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent to us.

Schools

Are the worksheets free for schools?

Yes. Every lesson idea, worksheet, word search, colouring page and the Explorer passport is free to print on the For schools page.

Can you help us plan a school trip or visit?

Yes. Send a booking enquiry with your year group, class size and dates, and we'll reply with options and a quote.

Do you have risk assessment and safety information?

Our teacher information includes a printable risk assessment template and safety advice for trips near water. Always follow your school's and local authority's own policies.

Visiting Loch Ness

Is the Loch Ness Monster real?

Nobody has ever proved it. People have told stories about a creature in Loch Ness for more than 1,400 years, and it's still one of the world's most famous mysteries.

What's the best time to visit?

Spring to autumn is busiest, with the most boat trips running. Many attractions open less often in winter, so check before you travel.

How do bookings work?

Send a booking enquiry with your plans and dates, and we'll reply by email with options. Nothing is booked until you've seen the details and agreed. Tickets for each attraction are sold by the attraction itself.

The shop

When will the shop open?

We're getting it ready now. Tell us what you'd like and we'll email you when it opens.

Do I need to buy anything to play?

No. The games are always free. Everything in the shop is optional.
